An Open Letter to Congress

To the Honorable Members of Congress,

We, the undersigned citizens of the United States of America, write to you out of a sense of profound frustration with Congress’s unwillingness to heed the clear will of the people and an earnest desire to restore the principles of liberty, justice, and constitutional governance upon which our great nation was founded.

Our nation is built upon the pillars of democracy, individual freedoms, and the rule of law. The refusal of Congress to pass measures protecting these pillars from federal overreach, however, has raised serious concerns about the erosion of these fundamental principles. We believe it is our patriotic duty to bring these issues to your attention and to seek constructive solutions through peaceful and constitutional means.

  • Unchecked Federal Bureaucracy: The unchecked power of unelected bureaucratic agencies like USAID enables them to funnel taxpayer funds into left-wing causes under the guise of humanitarianism without sufficient oversight or accountability. The executive branch can pause these measures, but it is up to Congress to ensure that this abuse of federal power is put to a stop. You have failed to do so.
  • Fiscal Irresponsibility and National Debt: The federal government's unsustainable spending and accumulation of national debt threaten the economic stability and future prosperity of our nation. The burden of this debt will fall upon future generations, compromising their ability to enjoy the same opportunities and freedoms we cherish. You have failed to act in the face of looming economic catastrophe and instead continue to make matters worse.
  • Erosion of States’ Rights: The encroachment of federal power into areas traditionally reserved for state and local governance undermines the principles of federalism. Policies that override state laws on issues such as education, healthcare, and environmental regulation weaken the ability of states to address the unique needs of their populations. You have refused to pass legislation curbing federal power and returning it to the states.
  • Ineffective Legislation: Overinflated bills, bloated with thousands of pages of hidden favors and extraneous provisions, undermine transparency and burden taxpayers with unnecessary costs while casting doubt as to whether members of Congress are even aware of what they are voting for. You have refused to limit the length of bills and actively create transparency mechanisms. You appear to thrive on lack of transparency.

In light of these grievances, we are invoking the constitutional right of the American people to call an Article V convention. This convention provides a lawful and peaceful mechanism to propose amendments that will rein in the federal government’s overreach and restore the balance of power envisioned by our Founders. Our goals are to:

  • Ensure fiscal responsibility through balanced budget requirements and tax and spending caps.
  • Restore the proper balance of power between the federal government and the states by returning to the states their rightful authority.
  • Reinforce the protections of individual liberties against federal government intrusion.
  • Limit the terms of federal officials, including Congress and bureaucrats, to prevent the entrenchment of power.

To date, nineteen states of the constitutionally required thirty-four states have passed the Convention of States Resolution calling for such a convention.

We do not undertake this action lightly but with a deep commitment to preserving the republic for which countless Americans have fought and sacrificed. We are forced to act because you have refused to do so.

Please consider this your formal notice that We the People will no longer sit idly by as you slowly strip us of our most sacred freedoms.

With the use of an Article V convention, we will honor the legacy of our Founding Fathers and secure the blessings of liberty for ourselves and future generations.

For the future of America,
